👉🏽 One of the most underrated exercises out there for healthy shoulders! Add a band and it becomes a devastating chest exercise! Our shoulder blades are like the ‘core’ of our shoulders. Much like our core they need to be trained to assist with stability!
👉🏽 At the top of the push up PROTRACT your shoulder blades! Imagine you’re trying to iron out your shirt through your upper back by pulling your shoulder blades away from each other as much as possible! This addition to the push up will help to train the stability of the shoulder.
👉🏽 Often if we’re inefficient in scapula protraction it can lead to winging scapula where the shoulder blades protrude out in an abnormal position.
👉🏽 Don’t just stick to flat push ups, play around with different angles, width, arm orientation and elevations – flat, incline & decline.
